Concern and Good Buys serve as two separate entities. Concern is a Food Pantry and Monetary Assistance provider for families in need. Good Buys is a discount clothing and general merchandising store furnished with goods donated by the community available for sale to the community. All sales from Good Buys flow through to Concern to help fund its cause. All labor is volunteer. Approximately 5,000 to 7,000 items are sold each month to people in our community with an average sales price of 25 cents. This generates approximately $1,500 in revenue to help fund the Concern Budget. Although this may sound like a lot of money, the cost to maintain our facilities ie. Utilities, taxes and insurance and building payment, consume at least half of this. Area churches give monthly along with some individuals and businesses to supplement this cash flow. 100% of Good Buys/Concern Revenue is dedicated to cover facility overhead and help families in need. Again no salaries are paid to workers, all help is volunteer.
Concern is a great ministry to our community. It helps countless numbers of families in Mound City, Blue Mound, Pleasanton, Prescott, Parker and LaCygne throughout the year. As our donations and financial support grows, we know we can help many more families in need. There have been numerous times that people have come in needing help with a electric bill, gas bill, water bill, doctors bill, pharmacy bill, etc. where the actual bill exceeded what Concern can financially afford to give each family. The more monthly donations we can generate from our community, the more we can give to each family in need.
